Women Safety SOS Service

Yatri may provide a Women Safety SOS Service ("SOS Service") for eligible logged-in female users to facilitate emergency assistance from the Railway Protection Force ("RPF").

How It Works

  • The SOS button may be displayed during specific hours and under conditions determined by the RPF and/or relevant railway authorities, currently it is 10PM to 6AM.
  • When activated, the user's real-time location is shared with authorized RPF personnel and railway control rooms.
  • Location updates may be transmitted approximately every 30 seconds for up to 2 hours, unless stopped earlier by the user or RPF.
  • RPF personnel may contact the user and monitor the shared location to assess and respond to the situation.
  • Once the incident is resolved, the SOS session may be closed by the user or authorized personnel.

Location Permission

The SOS Service requires location permission, including background location access where applicable. If location access is denied, disabled, restricted, or unavailable, the SOS Service may not function properly.

Stopping an SOS

Users may stop an active SOS session through the app. Before stopping, users may be required to answer safety-related questions. If a user indicates that they do not feel safe, the SOS may continue or be reactivated to facilitate assistance.

Role of Yatri

Yatri acts solely as a technology platform that enables SOS activation and shares relevant information, including location data, with authorized RPF personnel.

Yatri does not provide emergency response services, monitor incidents, dispatch assistance, investigate complaints, or control how SOS requests are handled. All actions, decisions, investigations, and responses relating to an SOS request are solely the responsibility of the RPF and other competent authorities.

Service Availability

The SOS Service is provided on a best-effort basis and may be unavailable, delayed, interrupted, or fail to function due to technical issues, network failures, GPS limitations, device settings, software errors, maintenance activities, or other circumstances beyond Yatri's reasonable control.

Yatri does not guarantee that the SOS button will always be visible, accessible, functional, or available to all eligible users at all times.

Misuse of SOS

The SOS Service must be used only for genuine safety concerns or emergencies. False, misleading, prank, malicious, or fraudulent SOS activations may result in suspension of access to the feature and may be reported to the RPF or other authorities. Such misuse may attract investigation, penalties, or legal action under applicable laws.

Consent and Limitation of Liability

By activating the SOS Service, users consent to the collection, processing, and sharing of their location and related information with authorized authorities for emergency response purposes.

Yatri does not guarantee the availability of the SOS Service, successful transmission of SOS alerts, response times, contact by the RPF, dispatch of assistance, arrival of personnel, successful intervention, or any particular outcome. To the maximum extent permitted by law, Yatri shall not be liable for any loss, injury, damage, delay, failure of response, technical malfunction, non-availability of the SOS Service, or any act or omission of the RPF, railway authorities, or other third parties in connection with the SOS Service.
