Mera Ticket Mera Imaan: Western Railway's Great Move Against Ticketless Journeys!

Western Railway’s Mumbai Central Division has conceptualized a novel idea to spark awareness of buying tickets and say no to ticketless travel. The “Mera Ticket Mera Imaan” campaign will be hosted by WR’s Mumbai Central Division from 25th December 2023 to 25th January 2024. Short videos are being invited from participants to highlight the importance of traveling with proper and valid ticket.

My Ticket, My Integrity:

"Mera Ticket Mera Imaan" isn't a short-lived campaign it's a seed sown in the heart of Mumbai, a seed of collective responsibility that sprouts with each honest fare paid, with each shared story of integrity. It's a journey, an odyssey where every Mumbaikar plays a part, navigating the complexities of daily life with a renewed sense of purpose.

For Mumbaikars, the train isn't just a mode of transport it's a microcosm of life, a canvas painted with dreams, deadlines, and the occasional dash of desperation. And it's in this crucible that the "Mera Ticket Mera Imaan" campaign ignites its spark, whispering its potent message: My Ticket, My Integrity.

It's a call to arms, not with weapons, but with wallets and a newfound sense of responsibility. It's not just about paying for a ride it's about recognizing the invisible threads that bind us together, threads woven with the sweat of commuters, the dedication of officials, and the very spirit of Mumbai itself.

Imagine boarding a train at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus, once choked by serpentine queues of ticketless travelers. Today, a sense of order prevails. Electronic barriers scan tickets, faces light up with pride as they tap their passes, and children clutch their brightly colored "Imaan Tickets" like badges of honor.

But the campaign is more than just numbers and statistics. It's about the little victories. the street vendor who chooses honesty over a quick buck by refusing to sell fake tickets, the student who volunteers at awareness drives, the office worker who politely discourages others from sneaking through gates.

This is not just Mumbai's story it's a beacon of hope for every city striving for a more efficient, ethical, and sustainable public transport system. It's a testament to the power of a simple message, amplified by collective action, to transform everyday experiences and ignite a ripple effect of positive change.

So, Mumbaikars, let the rhythm of your train journeys be the beat of Imaan. Let your ticket be a symbol of not just destination but of integrity, respect, and the shared dream of a city that runs on the fuel of honesty. Remember, it's not just your ticket; it's your Imaan, your commitment to a Mumbai that truly lives up to its spirit – a city where every journey begins with a promise and every destination is reached with pride.

The Ticket Checking staff worked with full zeal and the highly motivated Ticket Checking team under the supervision of Senior Commercial Officers of Western Railway organized several ticket checking drives during the months from April to December 2023, thereby recovering an amount to the tune of Rs. 128.42 Crore, which also includes Rs. 33.60 Crore from Mumbai Suburban section.

According to a press release issued by Shri Sumit Thakur – Chief Public Relations Officer of Western Railway, during the month of December, 2023, Rs. 12.71 Crore was recovered through detection of 2.24 lakh ticketless/irregular passengers, including unbooked luggage cases. Also, in the month of December, WR realized fines amounting to Rs. 3.54 Crore through detection of about 91,000 cases over Mumbai Suburban section. To prevent unauthorized entry in AC local trains, frequent surprise Ticket Checking drives are carried out. As a result of these drives more than 46000 unauthorized passengers have been penalized during the period April to December 2023 and Rs. 154.67 lakhs collected in fines, which is about 50% higher than the same period of last year.
