What started as tiffin in British India - - a quick bite that was had between suppers - - has turned into a fury all around the country. A South Indian origin food which has steamed (idli) and seared (vadas) dumplings made with multi-grain lentil batter are best gathered up with coconut chutney or dunked into hot sambar.
