The much-loved Neral–Matheran Toy Train is all set to make a comeback from November 6, 2025, delighting travelers, tourists, and hill station enthusiasts once again. Central Railway has officially announced the resumption of the heritage train service after its annual monsoon break, ensuring that visitors can once again enjoy one of India’s most scenic narrow-gauge train rides.
This move marks the return of one of Maharashtra’s most iconic hill station journeys, connecting Neral on the Mumbai–Pune route with Matheran, a popular car-free hill destination located about 80 km from Mumbai.
Seasonal Suspension Comes to an End
Every year, the Neral–Matheran Toy Train service is suspended during the monsoon season (June to October) due to safety precautions. The region receives heavy rainfall, making the hill’s narrow tracks slippery and vulnerable to landslides.
During this period, shuttle services between Aman Lodge and Matheran continue to operate for local convenience. However, with clear skies and the tourist season approaching, Central Railway has decided to resume full-fledged services between Neral and Matheran from November 6, 2025.
